Cosmetic Jaw Surgery
COSMETIC JAW SURGERY
What is orthognathic / cosmetic surgery
Orthognathic surgery is also known as Corrective Jaw Surgery. The upper jaw, lower jaw or both jaws can be repositioned to correct a malocclusion (“bad bite”) that is too severe for orthodontic correction and to achieve better facial balance and aesthetics.
Types of Orthognathic / cosmetic Surgery
- Upper Jaw Surgery (Le fort 1 Maxillary Osteotomy)
- Lower Jaw Surgery (Bilateral Sagittal Split Mandibular Osteotomy)
- Genioplasty (chin surgery)
Often, 2 jaw or combination of upper, lower jaw and chin surgery is required and is done in the one operation. 2 jaw surgery is often referred to as Bimaxillary Osteotomy.
